Pierre Poitras

Mr. Poitras worked for the Department of National Defence (DND) of Canada from 1984-2018 as Senior Technical Authority in Fuels and Lubricants. He has a B.Sc. in chemistry from Ottawa University, complemented by extensive expertise in chemical and physical testing of aerospace tactical fluids such as aviation turbine fuels, lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids and other related products.

Over his career, Mr. Poitras chaired the Aviation Fuel Committee of the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) of Canada, represented the Canadian Department of National Defence as the Head of Delegation for the NATO Fuels and Lubricants Working Group. Mr. Poitras is still an active member of the American Standards Testing Material (ASTM), the Canadian Standard Association (CSA), Coordinating Research Council (CRC) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Energy Group.

Mr. Poitras founded in August 2018 Fuel Plus Consulting Inc. which provides technical consultancy to and represent several fuel industry companies such as Conidia Bioscience, D2 Incorporated, Parker-Velcon and Stanhope-Seta in regards to aviation, ground and marine distillate fuels.

Mr. Poitras in collaboration with On Deck Aviation (https://ondeckaviation.com/ ) is specialized in auditing helicopter refueling equipment and delivering fuel quality handling training sessions to Superyachts ship captain, chief engineer and ship crew involved in helicopter refueling. This 2.0 day course is based on current industry standards such as JIG 4 and CAP 437 to preserve flight safety.

Fuel Plus Consulting is specialized in facilitating the delivery of on-specification aviation fuels to both fuel terminals, refueling equipment and ultimately aircraft.

 

Strong of the implementing recognized industry standards such a CSA B-836, JIG 1, 2 and 4, CAP 437, Fuel Plus Consulting can audit facilities to these standards and provide maintenance checklists. In addition, Fuel Plus Consulting have developed and can deliver at site a fuel training course covering the topics of fuel specifications and properties, fuel contamination including microbiological growth, field quality control testing and fuel filtration. Fuel Plus Consulting is specialized in the handling and delivering fuel in remote areas and at sea.

 

Fuel Plus Consulting is specialized in military operations, the use of military additives (FSII/CI/LI and +100 additives). Fuel Plus Consulting can facilitate fuel delivery in NATO led operational theatre based on the NATO Single Fuel Policy (SFP).

 

We specialize in yacht-based helicopter refueling activities. By auditing the storage, handling and dispensing of jet fuel on-board, we ensure flight safety. Through meticulous monitoring and testing of stored fuel, we abilitate the ship crew to minimize the presence of environmental fuel contaminants and to maintain the integrity of the fueling equipment.
